Astronomical Observation
A sky filled with countless starsLocated at approximately 24 degrees north latitude, the Yaeyama Islands, including Ishigaki Island, offer views of stars rarely seen on the Japanese mainland, including the Southern Cross, Canopus, and Alpha and Beta Centauri, with all 21 first-magnitude stars and 84 of the 88 constellations visible under suitable conditions.
